Good Evening Harbor Families!
Five weeks left of school, and a little more than three weeks before our next concert. We are working hard, learning music that challenges us, and immersing ourselves ourselves in daily responsible risk-taking. 6th Graders are beginning to sight-sing notes on paper, though they’ve been setting themselves up for success by using hand-sign solfegge (Do, Re, Mi) since the beginning of the year. 7th and 8th Graders are attempting solfegge sight-singing without the crutch of first writing down note values… and all are challenging themselves through whole-body musicianship.
Students have also had the opportunity to work with Ms. Melanie Reiff (Masters in Music Ed and Teaching Candidate from CU) for the past 5 weeks. Ms. Reiff will finish her student teaching with us up through the concert, giving her an opportunity to direct on stage. We will miss her personal style, her immense musical knowledge, and her dedication to our students.
SPRING CONCERT INFO:
Our Spring Concert is on Tuesday, May 17th. As a reminder, the combined rehearsal and concert are required as part of students’ curriculum and grade, as it is our only rehearsal to combine multiple classes singing the same music.
Our upcoming Combined Rehearsal schedule looks like this (both in the LMS Auditorium):
As always, please call or email with any questions. I'm looking forward to seeing you all on May 17!
Respectfully,
Profe Brian Gonzales
