Meanwhile in The Harbor...
- Students are starting their preparation for the "Pops in the Harbor - Lovin' the 80's" Concert on Feb 25 and 26. We've hired a 6-piece band (including 3 synthesizers) to back up all student performances, including 12 solo acts. Students interested in auditioning for one of the 12 solo acts (or small group acts), must prepare a 1-2 minute version of their Song, or Dance, or Instrumental, or Combination, or Stand-up Comedy Routine for the Friday, January 22nd Auditions. The musical pieces must be from the 80's. The stand-up routine can be from any decade, as long as it's PG and PC. Students will audition in front of 3-4 professional musicians from around Colorado who will critique each audition and ultimately decide who the final 12 acts will be. If students are selected as one of the 12 solo acts, they will be expected to attend one rehearsal with the band prior to the concert.
- All Students will participate in both concerts of the two-night "Pops in the Harbor" Concert. Solo Acts will only participate in one of the two nights.
- A BIG THANK YOU to Cameo Martine-Stern (Auditioning, Public Speaking, Communicating, and Confidence Coach) for her tremendous help in coaching our students in choreography and self-confidence. Students were pushed to accept their voices and bodies for what they are, while confidently moving within that space to show artistry, passion, and professionalism on stage. Cameo insisted that students realize their own potential, while doing so with compassion and encouragement. Thank you for helping to fill our Harbor with beauty.
