You make me thankful for my job, all of you...
The ones who talk too much, and the ones who don't talk;
the ones who play, and the ones who don't know how;
the ones who are more comfortable with their small group of friends, and the ones who could work or play with anyone at any time.
The ones who think they're right, and the ones who think they're wrong;
the ones who think they've figured out their identity and their direction, and the ones who think they are lost or still searching;
the ones who live in tension with family or friends, the ones who live, for the most part in peace.
The ones who feel loved, and the ones who feel alone;
the ones who work hard, and the ones who hardly work;
the ones who struggle to understand, and the ones who teach others;
The ones who came into the world writing songs, and those who came in listening...
You challenge me daily to find different pathways to reach all of you...to find ways that each of you might learn how to grow. And you trust me just enough to lower your defenses and simply be you...making you open to learning.
Thank you for a brilliant first few months (and years)!
-Profe Brian Gonzales
P.S. I am equally thankful for your parents. Without them, I would have never met you.
